Today’s movie is political satire The Death of Stalin (2018)—streaming on Netflix. If you’re finding it hard to stomach our current political climate, The Death of Stalin offers a hilarious respite much like writer/director Armando Iannucci’s magnum opus Veep. The Death of Stalin is about the parasitic (and bumbling) cronies of dictator Josef Stalin who find themselves in a desperate and frantic struggle to become the next leader of the Soviet Union. Hilarity ensues.
What I love about The Death of Stalin is its ability to make smart comedy out of the dumbest characters imaginable.
